We offer a full day LIVE (in person) comprehensive course in Microsoft Excel.  We base the practice scenarios in Excel to financial, transaction, and accounting data;  almost all of our exercises are based on exported data from QuickBooks.   We have a very unique approach to teaching excel and our target student is typically a Business Owner, Accountant/Bookkeeper, or Finance Professional.

We also teach non-financial data usage such as: Product/inventory lists, and other Excel data.







We like to teach our student to manipulate Excel with financial data.  We teach excel usage while doing these functions:

  • Building budgets from previous financial statements (P&L and Balance Sheet)
  • Filtering Financial data such as sales or invoices by a particular customer or product sold.
  • Manipulating a list of inventory items, changing prices, descriptions, etc…  Deleting inactive Items
  • Identifying Customer with or without current activity

We will be working in Excel 2016, but the functions will be compatible with Excel 2007, 2010, and 2013.

Pre-requirements: Must understand the fundamentals of spreadsheets, this is not a class for someone using Excel for the first time.

  1. Entering data and working with sheets
    -Enter Text, Numbers, or Dates Data
    -AutoComplete and AutoFill
    -Copy/Duplicate Sheet
    -Rename, organize, and reference multiple sheets
  2. Organizing Data:
    -Sorting and Filtering
    -Adding, Copying, and  Deleting Columns.  Rows as well
    -Copy and Paste as Text
    -Find and Replace
    -Basic Formatting of headers, lines, fonts, column sizes
  3. Basic Formulas
    -Using the “=” sign and parenthesis “( )”  manage formulas
    -Absolute References (F4 Function)
    -Statistical Formulas: SUM, AVG, COUNT,
  4. Filters Tips and Tricks
    -Working with Filters, zero/no value items
    -Conditional Formatting
    -Copying and pasting filtered data / SUM and Count Filtered data only
    -Table / Data Range Naming
  5. Advanced Formulas and Functions
    -IF Formula
    -Trim and Concatenate
    -VLOOKUP and HLOOKUP Formula
    -Text to Columns
    -Data Validation – Drop Down List Menu
  6. Excel Shortcuts
    -Finding Functions
    -Finding Answers
    -Keyboard Shortcuts
  7. Pivot Tables
    -Introduction to Pivot Table functionality
    -Setting up the data to be ready for Pivot Tables
    -Practical Examples and custom pivot table reports
